"White disaffected racists are our main demographic, the Republican base, that's who Tea Party candidates appeal to, and given the sort of people we recruit, we'll be denouncing racist remarks by hundreds if not thousands of Tea Party Republicans from now til election day. It sets a bad precedent." **************** In the wake of Republican Hero for a Week Cliven Bundy remarks about slavery and picking cotton and how slaves could have chickens, Darrell Issa, Republican Chair of the House Oversight Committee announced today that his committee will investigate whether slavery was actually as bad as all that. "Slavery has a bad name for over 150 years and we need to determine whether it was really all that bad," Issa said. "After all, Negroes could have chickens. It's time to admit we were wasting our time in investigating Benghazi, the IRS, Fast and Furious, the President's birth certificate, and all the other ridiculous nonsense we've been doing and move on to something important like this.
