Bouncing Driver Heads
So I took my son out to the Indian Creek driving range this afternoon where he wanted a golf lesson from me. We bought a bucket of balls and started with a #4 fairway club, and then a driver, and a 5 iron, and then headed to the putting green for a few chipping and putting lessons. With a few tips, he was hitting the ball pretty well. But on the last driver shot of the afternoon, he took his 100 mph swing and hit the ball and the club head of my Cleavland Launcher 400 driver snapped off the club and went flying and then bouncing down the driving range about 80 yards. He turned around to look at me holding the club shaft up in the air looking at the end of the shaft where the driver head used to be, a rather stunned look. He said he'd planned to ask me if there was a club he could buy me for Father's Day, and concluded that he'd gotten his answer! So we went to Dick's Sporting Goods, I tried out several new drivers, got one I liked at about a 50% discount, an Adams Super S Speedline, and will get my old Cleveland Launcher a new shaft and will "inherit" that one to Jeremy! A win win scenario! The bucket of balls - $6. The New Adams Super S Speedline - $169.99. The look on Jeremy's face as the driver head bounced down the driving range - priceless!
