Cliven Bundy - Negroes Had Chickens and other news........

Newest Republican star Cliven Bundy turns out to be a racist idiot. What were the odds of that? (A. about 100%)**************** ****************** Fox News today suspended Sean Hannity indefinitely for his denunciation of racist idiot Cliven Bundy's 'Negro' remarks. "If we quietly stand by and let Sean denounce racist remarks of Tea Party Republicans, where will it ever end?" said Rupert Murdoch, owner and chief propagandist for Fox News. "White disaffected racists are our main demographic, the Republican base, that's who Tea Party candidates appeal to, and given the sort of people we recruit, we'll be denouncing racist remarks by hundreds if not thousands of Tea Party Republicans from now til election day. You haven't seen any other Fox News personalities denounce racist remarks have you? That's all we'd be doing. It sets a bad precedent." **************** In the wake of Republican Hero for a Week Cliven Bundy remarks about slavery and picking cotton and how slaves could have chickens, Darrell Issa, Republican Chair of the House Oversight Committee announced today that his committee will investigate whether slavery was actually as bad as all that. "Slavery has a bad name for over 150 years and we need to determine whether it was really all that bad," Issa said. "After all, Negroes could have chickens. It's time to admit we were wasting our time in investigating Benghazi, the IRS, Fast and Furious, the President's birth certificate, and all the other ridiculous nonsense we've been doing and move on to something important like this. The whole civil rights movement may have been based on a mistaken premise that slavery was bad." **************** In other news, Republican Louis Gohmert from Texas now claims that Chelsea Clinton is carrying a "terror baby." "This just shows the lengths to which liberals will go to undermine the security and future of the United States of America," he said to a cheering group of heavily armed Tea Partiers. "There's no doubt in my mind that someday this baby will attempt an armed overthrow the US government. The only way to prevent the future overthrow of a duly elected national government is to overthrow it now. We demand to see Chelsea's long form birth certificate to prove she is a US citizen."

Easter Meditation

What it’s all about, this death and resurrection thing? What really happened anyway? What is the significance of this Easter day? Unlike Christmas, December 25 each year, Easter is a moveable celebration. Easter is observed on the Sunday after the first full moon on or after the day of the vernal equinox. This can occur between March 22 and April 25. Complex negotiations over many centuries arrived at this rather odd compromise. So we’ve got this “moveable feast.” Is the story of the Resurrection true? Is it Truth? I don’t know. I’m an artist, not a theologian.************ I think that many Biblical stories tell truths without being true. A friend said that a former pastor once told a girl who asked if a story was true, “Honey, that story’s so true, that even if it’s not true, it’s true.” That works for me. Heresy? In some circles, for sure. But whenever I hear that Jesus died for our sins, I think that it is more accurate to say that Jesus died because of the sins of his contemporaries. I don’t believe Jesus committed crucifixion suicide. He was put to death deliberately. The politics of the day, and pride, arrogance, bigotry, hatred, and jealousy killed Jesus. I think that’s true. ******************** That Easter is a moveable celebration appeals to me somehow. It moves around like the spirit can move around. And it needs to move around. Somebody kills Jesus everyday somewhere, it seems to me – genocide in Darfur, or Rwanda, or innocents in the Holocaust or New York City, or Sandy Hook School, a landmine in Afghanistan, or an explosion in a town market in Iraq, or a suicide bomber, or a mall in Omaha, Ne, or where a child is abused or hungry. “Brokenness” kills Jesus. And Jesus lives and moves wherever goodness and kindness and caring prevail. I think that’s Truth. So we are fortunate that Easter is a “moveable feast”– we desperately need the redemptive power of this celebration to move around. There are far too many places and times where this “moveable feast” is needed.******************** One of my favorite songs is Leonard Cohen’s, “Hallelujah.” He says the following about his song: "This world is full of conflicts and full of things that cannot be reconciled but there are moments when we can transcend …and reconcile and embrace the whole mess and that's what I mean by 'Hallelujah.' That regardless of what the impossibility of the situation is, there is a moment when you open your mouth and you throw open your arms and you embrace the thing and you just say 'Hallelujah! Blessed is the name.' And you can't reconcile it in any other way except in that position of total surrender, total affirmation.”******************* So my color blasts, dancing figures, doves and flowers, Hallelujahs, Jesus on the Cross, and other abstracted offerings hanging from the rafters are a way to celebrate this Easter day and this “affirmation,” as are the beautiful music we hear and joyous songs we sing and words of wisdom that come our way as we attempt to reconcile the irreconcilable. I will celebrate the death and life of Easter and hope the miracles will move from place to place, time to time, and person to person. I want these images to be part of the celebration of the contradictions of the rational and the miraculous, of the implications of metaphors and metaphysics, and of the contemplations of the true and the Truth, and I will “embrace the thing” with surrender and affirmation. ******************** The Easter story is so true, that even if it’s not true, it’s true. Hallelujah!

Chelsea is Pregnant and other Breaking News

Republicans have endured a barrage of bad news this week. Obamacare has more enrollees than expected, it will cost less than projected, and will cut future deficits by a larger degree than previously thought, according the the Congressional Budget Office. Outraged Republicans vow to fight. ***************** ******************** Wisconsin Republicans will vote on whether Wisconsin has the right to secede from the United States. ************ ********************* Breaking News on Obamacare: The truth emerged today regarding the resignation of Kathleen Sibelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services from leaked internal documents. "It was the failure of the death panels that did her in," said an anonymous source within the White House. "We had fully expected, based on Republican reports, particularly from Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, and Michelle Bachmann, that tens of thousands of people would have been put to death by now, especially the old and infirm. President Obama was furious when he found out that there were in fact no death panels at all." The source said that Democrats will be drafting emergency legislation to install the death panels once and for all during the next Congress. "In all honesty, the omission was an oversight. It was a very complicated bill. The way Republicans were going on about it, we thought it was in there."*************** **************** Breaking News: Chelsea Clinton is pregnant. Republican Congressional Oversight Committee Darrel Issa is demanding an investigation into Chelsea's pregnancy. "With all the speculation about Hilary Clinton and a 2016 Presidential campaign, the disastrous Obamacare roll out, the IRS Scandal, Fast and Furious, and the Nevada confrontation with Clive Bundy, doesn't this strike you as quite the coincidence?" he asked. "Americans demand an investigation. Just who is responsible? How did this happen? There must be accountability. No good news must go unchallenged. Freedom loving Americans demand answers." ************ ******************Other breaking news: In a strange turn around on its "law and order" legacy, Reublicans applauded armed Tea Party terrorists who threatened law enforcement officials when they tried to enforce federal laws in Nevada. Clive Bundy, a wealthy rancher, has refused for 20 years to pay federal grazing fees for his cattle grazing on federal controlled land despite numerous court orders to do so. These are the same people who criticized President Obama as "lawless" when he allowed people an extra weeks to sign up for Obamacare if they'd started an application prior to April 1. *************** *****************So a Jew hating Nazi-loving KKK freak with guns goes out and kills two Methodists and a Catholic woman at a Jewish Community Center and retirement home.....and hundreds of armed "militia" show up at a Nevada ranch to protect a guy who's been feeding his cattle on federal lands for 20 years without paying for it. This is one of those days when I remain convinced the country is going nuts. And one has to wonder how many degrees of separation there are between that guy and the militias......***************** ******************* I watched the Masters golf tournament on my 15 year old Sharp tv with a 32 in. more or less square screen. The cameras on the network are shooting in a more modern rectangular mode that fills the screen on those large flat screen rectangle shaped modern tv's. So what I keep seeing is the empty square green space between the golfer on one side who is out of the shot on one side and the hole which is out of the shot on the other side. I wish this tv would stop working so I can go get one of those newer ones. Life can be so hard sometimes.

Frozen Egg Rolls Will Be Hot After Heating and other stuff

Consider this: Obamacare is the only Republican idea in the last 30 years that actually appears to work. Republicans responded to a Rand Corporation study which says 9.3 million more Americans now have health insurance because of Obamacare: "It's probably just a coincidence." ************ ************** The other night, I read this warning on a package of frozen egg rolls: product will be hot after heating. Um, yeah, I suppose.*************** ******************** Here's an Andy Rooney question for you: If speech is free, why are so many billionaires spending so much money on it?************** *********************** It was disturbing how fast Ukraine fell apart and lost Crimea; it was like a massive Russian military flash mob ballet suddenly appeared and Crimea was the ballet dancer leaping into Mikhail Baryshnikov's (Kalashnikov) arms and then the curtain dropped. And there was nothing anybody could do to stop it.****************** ************** I saw this tweet: Say what you will about George W. Bush, but he wouldn't have stood for the Russian aggression in Ukraine. He'd have invaded New Zealand by now. *********** **************** And speaking of George W. Bush, I've seen photos of his art and he's as good an artist as he was President. **************** ******************** John McCain, the man who picked Sarah Palin to be his VP, is all up in a snit about President Obama's nominee to be Ambassador to Norway..... Are you kidding me? Who gives a sh** about who is the f****** Ambassador to f****** Norway? McCain's the guy who unleashed Sarah Palin on the lower 48 states. President Obama could pick Daffy Duck and it would still be a better pick than John McCain's. ******************* ***************Finally, after blocking a minimum wage bill, an equal pay for women bill, the unemployment insurance extension for long term unemployed, the Republican Congress called it a day and headed on out for a two week break.

37 Americans sign up for Obamacare

Republican Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, is launching an investigation into his first two investigations of the Benghazi attacks. "I am extremely disappointed in myself that our first two investigations found no wrongdoing on the part of the Obama administration and its response to the Benghazi attacks. Although I have already spent millions, I will spare no taxpayer expense in trying to uncover why I have found no fault, in two separate and exhaustive investigations, with the actions of the President or the then Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton." ***************************Republicans, in denial that 7.1+ million Americans are now enrolled in Obamacare, in denial that Barack Obama was even elected President, today announced their latest version of the replacement they will propose at some vague yet to be determined date in the future -- after they have repealed Obamacare. House Speaker Boehner is now scheduling ACA repeal votes 51 thru 100 to take place twice a week during the 2014 campaign season. The main outlines of our plan are that we don't like President Obama and that we don't like President Obama. We are still working out the details of the plan, and have no actual details ready, butyou can be assured that dislike of President Obama is central to our plan. "********************Republicans on Republicans: Sarah Palin called Paul Ryan's budget proposal the "definition of insanity." Needless to say, if anyone knows the "definition of insanity" it would be Sarah Palin..... And Ryan's budget repeals Obamacare, of course, but replaces Medicare for people 65 and older with a program much like Obamacare! *****************************Breaking FOX news on Obamacare: Republicans estimate that 38 Americans enrolled in the ACA by the March 31 deadline. "We think the Democrats numbers of 7.1 million are totally 'cooked.' Our number is just accurate as Paul Ryan's budget numbers," said a Republican spokesperson too embarrassed to be identified. "It could actually be 37."*************************And after making sh** up about Obamacare for 5 years, lying about what it would or would not do, misrepresenting every single aspect of the program, sabotaging every attempt to make it work better, blocking "navigators" from being hired to explain it, and encouraging young people not to sign up, Republicans are now running television ads complaining that people are confused.......... I swear. **************** Obamacare is the only Republican idea in the last 30 years that has actually worked. And they hate it. Go figure.
